| Retired GC Jarvis dies |
| Richard Jarvis, former general chairperson of the New England Lines, has died. He was 85.
He was a member of Local 254, Fitchburg, Mass. He joined UTU predecessor Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen in 1946. Jarvis hired out on the Boston & Albany Railroad and also worked on the New York Central. He served as a local chairperson, vice general chairperson, and was elected general chairperson in 1974. He retired in 1985. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council; a member and past president of the Greendale Retired Men's Club, and past president of the Laymen's Retreat Lounge. The New England Lines general committee represents members working on CSXT Northern District; Canadian American; Chestnut Ridge; Conrail–Albany Division; Lamoille Valley; Northern Vermont; Quincy Bay Terminal; Springfield Terminal, and Twin State. |
