School bus rolls off northern N.M. road
CHIMAYO, N.M. -- Authorities say about a dozen children were treated for cuts and bruises after their school bus rolled off an embankment on the side of a one-lane road in northern New Mexico, according to the Associated Press.

State police say the driver avoided a head-on collision with a speeding car by driving onto the shoulder of Rio Arriba County Road 80 near Cordova.

They say the bus then rolled down a 25-foot embankment, coming to rest on its side.

State police say some of the 13 elementary school children were treated at the scene and others were taken to Espanola.

The children ranged in age from 7 to 11.
