RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A disabled train blocked the Main line at the start of the evening rush hour and delayed commuters bound for northern New Jersey and Orange County, N.Y., for up to an hour Monday night (Oct. 16), according to this report published by the Times Herald Record.
NJ Transit began posting advisories on its Web site about delays for Main and Bergen County Line trains shortly after 5 p.m. The two lines combine south of Ridgewood; the Main line continues into New York and becomes the Port Jervis line.
Commuters aboard the 5:42 p.m. train from Hoboken said they were told to expect a 20- to 25-minute delay after they had been sitting somewhere between Hoboken and Ridgewood for about 20 minutes. One man said a conductor reported signals and switches were also an issue.
