Manhattan: Increased rail service for playoffs
NEW YORK -- Subway service will be increased for fans attending playoff games at Yankee and Shea Stadiums, New York City Transit said yesterday, according to this report by William Neuman published by The New York Times.

Before the Yankees home games tonight (Oct. 3) and tomorrow night, trains on the No. 4 line will run every four minutes, beginning 90 minutes before scheduled game time.

After the games, trains on the No. 4 and the D lines will arrive at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station every two to three minutes.

Before the day game at Shea tomorrow, two express trains and two local trains will be added to the No. 7 line schedule during the 90 minutes before the game.

On Thursday night, there will be three additional express and three additional local trains on the No. 7 line during the 90 minutes preceding the game.

After the Mets games, Manhattan-bound No. 7 trains will run every two to three minutes.

The Long Island Rail Road will also be running expanded service to Shea Stadium, on its Port Washington branch.
