Coming Social Security crisis no myth
PARKERSBURG, W. Va. -- The retirement nest egg of an entire generation is stashed away in this small town along the Ohio River: $2.5 trillion in IOUs from the federal government, payable to the Social Security Administration, reports the Associated Press.

In bad times, seniority rules
Railroad layoffs prompted by the recession have brought more than 120 people, some from as far away as California and New Mexico, to Nebraska rail hubs in Alliance and North Platte as union workers claim jobs held by people with less seniority, reports the Omaha World-Herald.

BNSF and Union Pacific have furloughed nearly 10,000 workers nationwide since late 2008, and union rules allow "bumping," even into other states.
