PHILADELPHIA -- SEPTA City and Suburban Transit Division bus, trolley and subway-elevated routes as well as Regional Rail lines will operate on weekday schedules on Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24). On Christmas Day (Saturday, December 25), all SEPTA services will operate on Sunday or special schedules, according to this release issued by the transit agency.
CHRISTMAS EVE (Friday, December 24)
On Christmas Eve, most SEPTA services will operate on regular weekday schedules. City Transit Division bus routes, however, will operate on a slightly modified weekday schedule.
CHRISTMAS DAY (Saturday, December 25)
On Christmas Day, SEPTA bus, trolley and subway-elevated routes will operate on a Sunday schedule with the exceptions of bus Routes 14, 20, 24, 28, 58, 70, 73, 88, 104, 109, 114, 117, 119, 124/125 and 305 which will operate on special Christmas Day schedules as indicated on the SEPTA web site at http://www.septa.org. Routes 93, 94, 96, 97, 98, 99, 110 and 130 will also operate on special Christmas Day schedules listed in the current public timetables dated November 21, 2004. Suburban Transit Division bus Routes 95, 120 and 123 will not operate.
SEPTA Regional Rail service will operate on a special holiday (reduced Sunday) schedule with rail lines providing service about every two hours with the exceptions of the R1 Airport line which will operate every half-hour, R7 Trenton which will provide hourly service, and R3 Media-Elwyn and R8 Fox Chase which will run about every three hours.
The revised SEPTA Christmas Day regional rail schedules are available now on the SEPTA web site at http://www.septa.org.
The regional rail lines will provide service on the following schedules:
-- R1 Airport - service will operate every half-hour throughout the day between Center City Philadelphia and Philadelphia International Airport. Most trains will provide service between Center City Philadelphia and Glenside as indicated on regular Sunday schedules.
-- R2 Warminster - outbound (to Warminster) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 8:05 a.m. until 12:05 a.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Warminster will operate every two hours from 7:12 a.m. until 10:42 p.m.
-- R2 Marcus Hook - outbound (to Marcus Hook) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 8:34 a.m. until 8:34 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from Marcus Hook every two hours from 9:47 a.m. until 9:37 p.m.
-- R3 West Trenton - outbound (to West Trenton) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 8:35 a.m. until 11:05 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from West Trenton every two hours from 7:58 a.m. until 9:58 p.m.
-- R3 Media/Elwyn - outbound (to Elwyn) service will operate from Suburban Station every three hours from 10:22 a.m. until 12:22 a.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Elwyn will operate every three hours from 8:22 a.m. until 11:22 p.m.
-- R5 Lansdale/Doylestown - outbound (to Doylestown) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 7:20 a.m. until 11:20 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Doylestown will operate every two hours from 7:29 a.m. until 10:59 p.m.
-- R5 Paoli/Malvern - outbound (to Malvern) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 8:45 a.m. until 12:15 a.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Malvern will operate every two hours from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.
-- R6 Norristown - outbound (to Elm Street Station in Norristown) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 8:25 a.m. until 10:15 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Elm Street Station will operate every two hours from 7:50 a.m. until 9:41 p.m.
-- R6 Cynwyd - will not operate.
-- R7 Chestnut Hill East - outbound (to Chestnut Hill East Station) service from Suburban Station will operate every two hours from 7:38 a.m. until 11:38 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Chestnut Hill East will operate every two hours from 6:32 a.m. until 10:32 p.m.
-- R7 Trenton - arrival and departure times have been structured to coordinate with New Jersey Transit train service and will operate on a regular hourly Sunday schedule. Outbound (to Trenton) service will operate from Suburban Station every hour from 6:05 a.m. until 11:05 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Trenton Station will operate every hour from 6:46 a.m. until 11:47 p.m.
-- R8 Fox Chase - outbound (to Fox Chase) service will operate from Suburban Station every three hours from 8:57 a.m. until 8:57 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from Fox Chase every three hours from 9:51 a.m. until 9:51 p.m.
-- R8 Chestnut Hill West - outbound (to Chestnut Hill West) service will operate from Suburban Station every two hours from 6:50 a.m. until 10:50 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from Chestnut Hill West every two hours from 7:45 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.
Riders can also call the SEPTA Customer Service Department at (215) 580-7800 for schedule information. The Customer Service Department will maintain regular hours with "live" information agents on duty from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, throughout the holiday season with the exception of Christmas Day when it will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The STAR pre-recorded information system provides callers with schedule information 24 hours a day.
