Trustees extend Medicare, Social Security solvency
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The principal Medicare trust fund will not run out of money until 2029, the longest period of solvency ever projected for the program, and the life expectancy for Social Security has been extended by one year, to 2038, according to the 2001 Social Security and Medicare Trustees' Report. -- Full story.
