Delegates elect more UTU officers
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (August 26) - On Wednesday, the Delegates at the UTU's 8th Quadrennial Convention continued with the election of officers.
Re-elected Assistant to the President-Yardmasters was Don Carver. Elected to serve alongside Carver was Jerry Martin.
Re-elected Alternate U.S. National Legislative Director was J. A. Stem, Jr.
Elected to the positions of First Alternate Vice Presidents were Steve Thompson (East), Artie Martin (West), and J. L. Batton (South).
Elected Alternative Vice Presidents were Robert Sharpe (Canada), Percy Palmer (Bus, West), Carolyn Scarsella (Bus, East), and Mike Canino (Commuter).
Elected to the positions of Second Alternate Vice Presidents were D. J. Schuler (East), John Babler (West), and John Hancock (South).
Elected to the U.S. Board of Appeals were W. J. Shelton, J. E. Fitzgerald, G. D. Welch, Dirk Sampson, and J. T. Harford.
Elected Alternate Canadian Legislative Director was Dennis Tennant.
Elected to the Board of Appeals-Canada were B. M. Gleason and E. F. Seagris.
Today, the delegates will complete the election of International officers and consider amendments to the Constitution.
More than 2,500 UTU members, families and union friends are attending this convention at the Fontainebleau Hilton in Miami Beach, Fla. The total attendance at the UTU's three Regional Meetings and convention is more than 5,500 persons.
