United Transportation Union offers reward
for conviction in DM&E
accident case
MINNEAPOLIS – On Tuesday, August 29, President Charles L. Little announced to the members, officers and guests in attendance at the Minneapolis Regional Meeting that United Transportation Union was offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the criminal action of throwing a switch and diverting a Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern (DM&E) train into a siding and colliding with eight parked railcars.
Conductor Bradley G. Davis, 38, a resident of Huron, S.D., and a member of UTU Local 64 in Huron, was killed in the wreck of August 26. Engineer Dennis C. Baum, also a resident of Huron and a member of UTU Local 64, was transported to Sioux Falls Hospital and is listed in serious condition.
