Grants for LAMTA for CNG Buses

The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority plans to receive $4.3 million in grants soon to purchase and operate compressed natural gas (CNG) buses as part of its clean air program. The Mobile Source Emission Reduction Review Committee, a regional clean air funding group, gave the grant to the MTA to help offset costs from its recent purchase of 223 CNG buses. The Review Committee's grant is expected to make up about half the $35,000 difference between the cost of CNG and diesel buses.
